Information about One Medicine

The phrase ‘One Medicine’ is a very old phrase, but there was not a clear definition of it until Humanimal Trust created one.  The term One Medicine meant vets, doctors and researchers working together to benefit humans and animals to cure diseases, make vaccines and keep us all healthy.

We want to see a world where doctors,  vets and researchers all work together so humans and animals equally benefit from the work they do.  Humans and animals deserve the same respect as each other, so we believe they should benefit the same amount.

Why is it Time to Connect?

The theme of Time to Connect fits beautifully with what we are striving for at Humanimal Trust.  Humans and animals’ lives are so closely interlinked daily.   We share our homes, our lives, our struggles, world resources and we care for each other.   Sadly, we also share diseases.  What better Time to Connect than now, in Humanimal Trust’s 10th anniversary year to share the power of that connection?

In celebration of this Time to Connect, we are launching our second Creative Awards.  In this competition you can share, using your creativity, your thoughts, images and examples of that wonderful bond between us and our animals and time to connect human and animal medics so they are able to learn from each other.

At Humanimal Trust we are striving to build a bridge to create this connectivity between doctors, vets, allied professionals and researchers to work together for the benefit of all species, One Medicine.  The amazing connections between humans and other animal species (because humans are animals too!) not only show how our lives are so closely intertwined, but also the physical and emotional similarities between us should be recognised and celebrated.
